1. What qualifies you as a coach/trainer?
I support people and organizations in breaking new ground. This path needs external impulses from time to time, even in the form of questions that make it possible to recognize and perceive other perspectives. This process is supported by a broad psycho-social understanding. As a social therapist and systemic-integrative consultant, I bring with me experience from working with a wide variety of people from all kinds of professional sectors, social classes and cultural backgrounds.
2. What drives you and what is your favorite task as a coach/trainer?
As a coach, I want to give my clients tools that they can use independently, independent of coaching. Psychoeducation and explanations of various models, be it in communication, conflict theory or personality development.
3. What possibilities does individual coaching offer – and where do you possibly encounter limits?
While my expertise lies in the selection of methods, all of my clients are experts in their own lives. I would never presume to dictate the solution to other people’s challenges. The coaching and consulting process is tailored exclusively to the personality and situation of the client. As a coach, I simply encourage reflection processes and support clients in using their resources for change. They decide at any time which topics should be addressed and which steps should be implemented. The most important prerequisite for the process to work is the conscious willingness of the client to undergo the process and strive for change. As a coach, I have neither a magic wand with solutions nor a crystal ball that gives me an indication of which path would be the right one for someone.
4. How do you recognize a good coach?
In my opinion, you can recognize a good coach by his attitude. He gives his clients enough space and time to recognize and implement things for themselves. He is open to the outcome of his clients’ solutions and unbiased when it comes to their personality. He firmly believes in the “good reason” in relation to the clients’ previous decisions and does not judge them. He looks at his clients’ development with interest and excitement and always takes a step back to meet them without expectations.
5. What do you find most fulfilling about your job? Additional question
The different stories of my clients and the search for their resources. For me, the magical moment in coaching is when my clients realize what their real values and motives are and then intend to live by them. The power that is then released is very long-lasting, whether professionally or privately.
6. What do your clients say about you? Additional question
An appreciative atmosphere, with the feeling of being seen and taken seriously. I approach my clients in an accepting and non-judgmental way, which gives them space to open up. Many people are helped by my knowledge of various topics of personal development, communication and psychoeducation. (See appendix: feedback from participants in my seminars on professional reorientation.)
