1. What qualifies you as a coach/trainer?
I would like to say: my professional and life experience, my great interest in people and my very good feeling for their needs and potential. Of course, I also have a solid coaching training and various additional qualifications that also prove useful in job coaching. This ranges from knowledge of work-life design to mental and self-esteem training and psychotherapeutic skills. I have been working as a coach in my own practice since 2014, have experience in the Career Service of Leuphana University Lüneburg and have also worked a lot with young people. Regardless of the age of my clients, I can quickly imagine a wide variety of scenarios and recognize what makes my coachees special, what is needed, where the fires are – and by that I mean both the specific challenges and the professional passions. As a cultural and economic scientist, I am a wanderer between worlds and, depending on requirements, can be a creative source of ideas or the woman with a very clear eye for facts and strategies. The focus is always on the client and their uniqueness.
2. What do your clients say about you?
That they feel in good hands with me, both personally and professionally. I often hear that clients trust me deeply and it is very relieving that they can show me everything that they are – and what they may not be. Together we get the best out of everything. My coachees appreciate my positive, open and empathetic manner, that I bring ease, even when things get difficult. When they say goodbye, they say that they are already looking forward to the next appointment and are curious about other tools and methods from my coaching treasure trove.
3. What are you particularly proud of when you think about your career?
After successfully working for over 20 years in cultural and music management and in senior positions in marketing and PR, I redefined myself professionally after the birth of my second child at the age of 40 and became self-employed as a coach. I am proud of my courage, determination and confidence in my abilities, which helped me to master this step so well. For me, a career means constantly developing, and I still have many ideas for the second half of my life.
4. What is the best way for you to switch off?
Work-life balance is an important topic, in job coaching, but also for myself. I pay very close attention to my energy. I can completely relax when I do Nia dancing, yoga and meditation, but also when I cook with my family or do gardening. I love coaching, and so it usually doesn’t feel like work at all.
5. In your own words: What does a coach do?
As a coach, I hold up an imaginary flashlight and bring to light aspects and skills that the coachees would not see on their own. In the spirit of “help for self-help”, I offer clients a personal and professional self-exploration process from which they emerge strong and, in the truest sense of the word, self-confident. I am a co-thinker and motivator, bring new ideas and perspectives into play and create a safe and appreciative space for development. There, clients can reflect, sort out and redefine themselves for professional change. At the end of the coaching process, they can start the next phase of their career in a goal-oriented, powerful and motivated manner.
